So at first I was going to do my topic on how Facebook has had a huge positive impact on the recent Middle Eastern social revolutions that have been occurring and are still going on. But It was too broad and finding a claim in the end would have been stretching it. Plus, I wanted to do something different. So I decided to write about the negative impact Facebook has on people with relationships and infidelity. After finishing my topic proposal I concluded that this is actually a more serious issue that people think. I think that its important for members of Facebook about how Facebook can lead people astray to be more cautious about their actions and their partners as well. Facebook seems like a easy simple way to find that long lost lover, or even a new stranger that can be something better? IS that grass greener on the other side? Well Facebook can help with that almost too easily.
Check out this article I found during my research period:
Facebook Infidelity: Cheating Spouses Go Online
According to the article above 20% of divorces involve Facebook and those are only the couples that were legally married in the past!
Lets just think about this for a moment.
ReplyDeleteIf you are fighting and getting a divorce over FACEBOOK do you not think that the couples should take a moment and think that they might have REAL problems other then Facebook. Maybe Facebook is just taking the blame?
Thats a good point. I do feel that Facebook is not to blamed 100% but I do feel that its a medium into leading someone astray. For example, someone who does a lot of drinking to the point comprehension at parties and has a girlfriend has a higher chance of cheating on the significant other than someone who is not drunk. But I would never say that is a good excuse its simply a medium. Or someone who has a significant other going to the "Sin City" a.k.a Vegas might be a little worried that he/she would be lead astray there. I think that Facebook is the newest form of medium that most people are not aware about unlike they are aware of "Sin city" (hence how people call it that) or the effects of too much alcohol. Therefore, I think that people should be more aware of this.
