This story is a old but I just found out about it today and had to post it on my blog because I thought it was so interesting. A man in Egyptian names his firstborn daughter "Facebook" to express his happiness without the social revolution. Facebook obviously was the medium to get the Egyptians together and protest their government which eventually lead to the revolution. Clearly, many Egyptians are very happy about this and even one naming his daughter after Facebook. Do you think its weird or too dramatic that he named his daughter Facebook? Can you believe the impact that Facebook has had and is still having? Would you ever name your child after a social networking site that has changed or impacted your country greatly? hmmm...anyways the story is below!

Charlie Sheen: Infamous just by all the media coverage on him!
We all knew who Charlie Sheen was by his hit t.v. show Two And A Half Men and even for the movies he was in in the past. Some, including myself, might not have ever seen Two And A Half Men or ever really cared or was interested by Charlie Sheen...until now. Even if you are not interested by Charlie Sheen's psychotic mid-life crisis break down, you can't help to see it everywhere! Even on Facebook! The link below is a YouTube video on some of the many highlights of Sheen's interviews by the press and media. The media's interest in Charlie is making Charlie more rich and famous (if that was at all anymore possible) and you cant help but wonder that maybe if there was not all this coverage on this lunatic that he might not think his such a big deal. Seriously, his head is about to explode, that or he might die by all the drugs he buys with all the money he gets because of all the publicity his getting. It's like 2+2=4. Well Sheen is definitely not all that crazy, he seems to know what he's doing and it's getting him all the money and attention he wants.
Here is the YouTube video that was posted by someone on Facebook on Sheen: This Video is pretty funny.

The Tool For An Affair!
Cheaters will cheat but Facebook makes it ten times easier. Even for those who might not have thought about cheating until Facebook gave them all the tools that they needed to do so easily. Facebook is a gateway into temptation and many people do not seem to realize what they are signing up for when they do get an account on Facebook. Checkout the link below about Facebook and affairs that a News station talked about! There is also a website created by a guy who has ben cheated on by his wife with the help of Facebook. The website link is also below.

Queens Flirt Page! MUST SEE!
Queens has created a flirt page...and lets just say its a little creepy and weird. But I also think this is so interesting that they made one in the first place and people are using it. I even saw someone make a comment about me!...actually I was telling Beau about this and he thought it was funny and told me that he was going to comment about me. haha. but other people logged in through the site are allowed to make comments below others people's comment. The example below is about me that Beau made and someone ("Lemon") asked if it was me?! I don't know who "Lemon" is and neither does Beau, I don't think. Check it out for yourselves. Shock value guaranteed!
This is the website: Flirt Page
And this is the comment (I am the one who liked it btw) :

The Stupid Government of Iran Is Ridiculous.
First, I just wanted to give a shout out to Blair Kitrick for texting me about this. Second, I know this has nothing much to do with Facebook. But I feel that the government of Iran is so pissed off about the recent revolutions and protests that are going on in Libya and Iran itself that they are trying to claim that other countries are "racist" and try to redirect the attention from themselves to other countries. Check out this website saying that Iran plans to boycott the 2012 Olympics because of the logo:

The Facebook Affair
So at first I was going to do my topic on how Facebook has had a huge positive impact on the recent Middle Eastern social revolutions that have been occurring and are still going on. But It was too broad and finding a claim in the end would have been stretching it. Plus, I wanted to do something different. So I decided to write about the negative impact Facebook has on people with relationships and infidelity. After finishing my topic proposal I concluded that this is actually a more serious issue that people think. I think that its important for members of Facebook about how Facebook can lead people astray to be more cautious about their actions and their partners as well. Facebook seems like a easy simple way to find that long lost lover, or even a new stranger that can be something better? IS that grass greener on the other side? Well Facebook can help with that almost too easily.
Check out this article I found during my research period:
Facebook Infidelity: Cheating Spouses Go Online
According to the article above 20% of divorces involve Facebook and those are only the couples that were legally married in the past!

Facebook Ads and What They Seem To Know About Me?!
There are three ads that appear almost all the time when I log onto my profile. It's interesting because on some way I can relate to them. They are the following:
This ad states, "Study the French language in Aix-en-Provence and see France while Studying abroad. Learn More!" The picture to the right is not the actual picture that this ad has. Instead its a picture of two girls in France pointing at something fascinating in France.
Ad # 1 titled: French Language & Culture
This ad states, "Study the French language in Aix-en-Provence and see France while Studying abroad. Learn More!" The picture to the right is not the actual picture that this ad has. Instead its a picture of two girls in France pointing at something fascinating in France. Interestingly enough, I really want to study abroad for my second semester junior year. I wasn't necessarily of thinking about France but in general I love to travel and learn about other cultures.
Im not sure this ad particularly wants me to study abroad in France. However, it was relatable because of my cultural interest and background. Plus, my desire to travel abroad. I never clicked on the link to "learn more" but I am sure it talks about how to study abroad in France through a program. What "it" doesn't know is that Queen's offers study abroad trips for free, so no thank you..but nice try, ad!
Ad # 2 titled: Win a BMW X3 Lease
This ad states, "Enter the X3 Matchup to win the Ultimate X3 Experience." The picture has a red BMW X3, similar to the one posted on here.
I love luxury cars. Especially German cars. But between a BMW and Mercedes I have to choose a Benz...but maybe I'm bias since my own car is a Benz. In general I love cars, so for it to keep posting this ad I think its pretty cool since if I had the money I buy several cars. Im not too big on sweepstakes prizes because I am simply not that lucky or there is always a hoax to it. Either way I think this ad is appropriate for someone who loves and enjoys car as much as I do. Especially since its a German car.
Ad # 3 titled: Up To 50% Off At Modcloth
This blog states, "Get warm, toasty, and stylish! Shop our Cozy Up Sale now and get free shipping on $100 + orders" Okay, so first off who wouldn't want 50% off clothing?! But, I'm not too familiar with Modcloth and although I love fashion and can relate to the ad rather some guy getting this ad, I would never want to buy expensive clothing online. I understand that online shopping is becoming a fad but I don't like it too much because you can't try it on and cant see it in real life versus's online. I definitely would not buy more than $100 worth of clothing to get free shipping? I don't know, maybe this would appeal to someone who really enjoys online shopping and fashion. It's just not me. In fact, out of these three ads it appeals to me the least but I can still relate because I am a female that enjoys clothes, sales, and shopping.

Facebook & Cultural Mix
Have you ever noticed the many different languages that you can change Facebook into depending on what language you speak and where you live? Have ever had a friend that used a different language to update his or her status, or comment on someone else's picture using a different language because they have the same ethnicity? I do it all the time. I know a lot of Latino people at Queens who write in Spanish all the time on Facebook. Sometimes I update status's or upload videos that are in Farsi to share with other friends that are also Persian. But I have realized that other people comment on them, asking what the video is about or what my status means. Also, I upload many persian songs and music videos and even my American friends like them. The video below is a Persian song by Erfan ( a Persian rapper) that I had posted a week ago on my wall. The song is called "Nakhastam" or "I never wanted..." its about a break up. I think the cultural mix on Facebook is pretty neat and out of curiosity people check it out and end up being interested.
Any similarities between Persian rap and American rap? Do you like the beat and music?

Cracked Out?!
This is probably one of the best anti-drugs posters I have seen. Clearly, the message is what the effects of using can do to someone. Obviously it states its purpose of the before [drugs] and after pictures of Lindsay Lohan. Meaning that it doesn't matter who you are-- drugs can make you look cracked out and eventually kill you. Lindsey Lohan has given herself the title, "The most cracked out young hollywood" but even she doesn't look so young anymore. It's not directed to just young females but really to anyone. Anyone can look young, beautiful, and alive before using. However, like Lohan, anyone choosing to use can slowly and painfully die inside and out and look almost like death. I hope Lindsey saw this poster.
